Was I the only one surprised that there wasn't a merchandise table (not bothered in T shirts but was hoping that there might be some exclusive CD singles done for the shows)?

Also, who's the keys player that came on for the odd song?

Yup, he was behind me when the stampeed happened and was trying to steamroller everyone, just to make a few places. Arrogant shit. He got plenty of verbal abuse from everyone though.

...any physical abuse from anyone?.....he looks like the sort of dipsh*t who deserves it....!

No physical abuse, even though he was being a cock I wouldn't want anyone thumping him. He was getting a lot of verbal though.

Firstly, brilliant opening gig at the Electric Ballroom. Prince is focused, energised and on utterly blistering form. He is performing at genius levels of artistry, charisma and showmanship. There is arguably no better time in the past 7-10 years to see Prince than now, particularly for dedicated fans.

However, the queue jumping in the line is a major problem. It should be a democratic system where the most dedicated are rewarded. However, we spent over 6 hours waiting on the street in the rain and only just managed to gain entrance to the gig due to the excess of queue jumpers. And we were told by security earlier that we would definitely be getting in as there were roughly 400 people ahead of us. This easily swelled to double that number and increased rapidly as the gig approached.

To top it all off there was then a massive surge and crush just after the doors opened. Some people who had waited all day simply left because it was too much.

I'm aware that this behaviour is not Prince's nor his managements, fault or responsibility. However, a better, more organised system will need to be introduced if a sense of fairness and goodwill is to be maintained. Although we met some nice people, overall the queue yesterday was a stressful, sometimes agressive, threatening experience that I would not be keen to repeat.

Hooked up with Organgrinder in the pub just by the queue. I won't lie I did get into the queue where he and his mates were, but apologised to everyone around who were understanding and it was happening all the way down the line.

Do you think a judge would accept "but everyone else near me was murdering people so therefore it's acceptable" as a reasonable defence ?

You're a low-life sponger and come across as a complete cock to be honest. Next time you pull this stunt, I hope someone teaches you a lesson.

Totally disagree....the queue to get into a gig that Prince's management have organised is Prince's managements responsibility. As I've said elsewhere, its negligent bordering on dangerous to turn up in Camden with one of the world's biggest music stars and have no plan whatsoever for the hundreds or 1,000 plus peope that are inevitably going to turn up. Imagine putting on the Olympics in London and having no plan whatsoever for people's safety, how they queue, how they got tickets, etc....if would be unheard of. No different here. And the chaos outside last night was the result. Wouldn't have been a stretch at all for someone to be in real bad shape today if they were young or elderly and had gotten caught up in it. Then picture the headlines, finger pointing, etc. It would have tainted the rest of the tour completely. Prince dodged a bullet last night...

eek eek eek eek eek eek She having a laugh!?!?!?!? What a poor girl, oh the horrible weather. Lucky she can stay in bed and not have to go to work and do a proper job. Maybe she should do something about the ticketing and queue jumping madness to ensure real fans get treated with some respect! *sigh* how I miss the NPGMC priority tickets!!!!!

Why the smilie?

The tweet might be an indication of various stuff which does not show commitment to the job of putting a show on the stage in an accepted manner.

Sure, but there's no reason to use sarcasm here:

She has seen/heard every show sicne she took teh job she has

So she knows the similarities in the setlists when comparing with previous shows.

The factor of epic-ness then gradually fades.

You might have seen a few dozen shows too...

I have to agree here. There is a lot of anger here at queue jumping, yet a couple of people seem to think their own queue jumping was acceptable and justified.

The chap earlier, his wife was way more important than someone else because he knows all the words to all the songs and well, he's been a fan for ages and posts on here and you know its only affected one person. The same person was getting more and more concerned last night and swearing at other people pushing in when he thought he might have been that one person who'd suffered the fate of not getting in.

What I've read on here today is embarassing to be honest. There's now tiers and levels of queue jumping and some are apparantly more deserving of having a space held for them in the queue than others.

I think you mean me? I was getting concerned about not getting in but I certainly didn't swear at anyone, or give anyone any kind of abuse.

Am I supposed to tell my wife no, you can't come with me? That's really not going to happen when I would have been the only one to do that. I understand that there's not justifcation for the everyone else is doing it argument but it is what it is unfortunately. I'll take a bit of abuse from a few strangers on the internet, far better than having an upset wife!

To reiterate, I'm suggesting Prince's management is not directly responsible for the culture of queue-jumping.

I did not suggest they should not feel responsible for making things more organised. In fact, I stated the very opposite.

That's a hard one and being familiar with your posts and conduct on here over the years I know you live up to your name "gent"... however, while I sympathise with the "can't risk pissing off the wife" I don't think this is any different from letting your mates join you and queue jump. Different story if ticketed but with one person one entry first come first served basis then she should not have joined you in the queue.

They know as much as us. They're 'secondary ticketing', i.e. legalised touts. Some people speculated they might have a deal with prince but their tweeting shows they're basically waiting for tickets to be announced as well.

But as you say it is what it is, just think its a bit off to bring levels of fandom into simple bad manners. Here's hoping for more dates so I can get in a queue at some point

Ah yes, I swear on the internet sometimes. lol

I had resigned myself to not getting in a couple of hours before we did to be honest. Then I would have gone home and complained no doubt. But then again, if I hadn't got in I would have been at the front of the queue for the next show, which was even better. So there's a part of me today that actually wishes there had been more fuckers, or that we'd been slightly slower to react to the stampede. So I guess that's my karma for wanting my wife to be with me.

All things considered, I would have complained whatever the outcome and I've been quite vocal about the piss poor organisation. In fact I'd suspect I may have been less vocal if I hadn't seen a show and just chalked one up on the Prince experience list. I take your point about fandom but I would say that anyone here definitely deserves to be in there ahead of friends of friends who don't even own an album, or the people drinking in the queue and smashed out of their faces before they even get in there. Fair enough if they queued for the 6 hours but that wasn't the case.

At then end of the day, the venue and lack of organisation 100% bred the events that occurred yesterday and rightly or wrongly I decided to go with the flow. If I knew it was going to be as bad as it was I wouldn't have gone myself but I did and can't change that now and if I was in the exact same circumstances again I would for sure save a place for my wife. But I'd make sure to save one for you too smile

If everyone else was doing that I'd have gladly done the same. But if that had been the case she wouldn't have come as she wouldn't have wanted me to miss out. But then again, if that was the case I wouldn't have stood there for 6+ hours to go see Prince by myself. I would likely have gone home when it was revealed there were no ticket sales.
